Soleil grew up in Madison, WI before moving to Syracuse, NY as a teenager. She received her B.S. in biology and her B.A. in anthropology from Syracuse University in 2017. During her time at Syracuse, she worked in the lab of Prof. Roy Welch studying gene regulation and social behavior in the bacterium _Myxococcus xanthus_, who she continued to work with during a gap year. She also worked in the bioarchaeology lab of Prof. Shannon Novak. She joined the Currie lab as a Ph.D. student in the Fall of 2018. Outside of the lab, Soleil enjoys tabletop games, biking, and blogging about women in science.
